  1. Plan to cultivate your emotional garden
  2. Grow:
    1. Love for God, our neighbour, and what is good
    2. Hope in God, and our eternal destiny
    3. Hatred of evil
  3. Allow:
    1. Grief
    2. Guilt
    3. Jealousy
  4. Eliminate:
    1. Destructive anger
    2. Fear and worry about the future

  5. Disciplines to get us there
    1. Wise up to the little things - sleep, diet, and exercise.
    2. Learn to look upwards - using prayer, Scripture, and song.
    3. Commit to look outwards

      3. What does the bible say?

    4. Don't be bullied by your emotions
      1. "I need this"
      2. "This is all or nothing
      3. "I need to act right now"

    1. Our emotions are derived from God's emotions
    2. Jesus felt: Joy, Love, Compassion, Frustration, Anger, Distress
  2. Emotions are complicated
    1. They're like a paint mixer that never shuts off
    2. They're connected to our bodies
    3. They're disordered by sin
